A Day away from the Daily Routine!
A set routine is like a sword that cuts both ways. It's good to have a routine in the sense that you have a some organized way of life. Once you get used to the routine, if you need to break out of the routine even for a day it feels like your whole day is chaos!
That is exactly what happend to me one day. I am used to this daily routine of going to office at around 7:45AM and comming back around 9:00PM. This eventful day, I had to visit a couple of financial institutions to get some of my work and some of my sister's work done(she is in a different city).
So I planned to go a little late to office on this day and I first went to finish my work. I collected some documents at this finance office in GandhiBazar and got out of there by 9:30Am. I was very happy that this was going to be done soon and I could get back to office and catch with my routine.
Then I went to this bank to pick up some money for my sister from one of her in-laws relatives. I went there and met this person(actually not her relative but his assistant)and I was very happy he was there on time (These days lot of people don't care about comming on time, that really gets to my nerves, how can you make others wait! they are not you slaves to wait for you)
Anyways back to the bank, I meet him and got inside the back with him, he asks me to wait in the lobby and goes to the Asst. Manager to get this check cleared (let's just say it was not a small amount). This Manager guy thell him that he can only give part of the money and if you wants more then he has to get the branch managers approval. (What the heck it's his money, why are you fussing about giving it to him)
As can be expected in accordance with the "Law of Need" who you need most is the only guy that would not be available. The Manager was out on a meeting for the morning, so this guy calls up his boss and tells him about the manager issue and that he is in some meeting and can only be contacted over his cell phone.
After that it was like I was in a hell for 4 hrs. The manager never called back to give the approval to his assistant manager to clear the check. Everythime I asked, the bank guys kept saying it will be do in the next half hour, just 5 minutes more sir, the manager is almost here sir,
just a little longer sir....etc. etc. crap! I started reading a book(one night at a call center) that I was carrying with me. I had stated reading this book just a night before that. So I spent about two and a half hours reading the book. Then I started getting really jumpy, my routine has gone for a toss. I am like solid 6hours late to office already, don't know how much longer this is going to take. (I wish it was not that important that my sister had this money on the same day but I knew she needed it badly)
Finally it was 2:30PM by the time I got the money in my hands! I reached office at 3:00PM and life was a daze here, I was totally dis-oriented! I didn't know what I was reading in the mails even though I had finised reading all the e-mail for that day! I missed all the meetings...
And worst of all I had to stay at office like until 11:00PM to meet the min required hrs for a day!! :(

Krak :
Its always refreshing to change the routine. the world looks a little different, you see different sets of people and see a different life flowing. I really love to change my routine once in a while.

Anil: I would have very much thought like that myself until this happened. Anyways I will not make a judgement based on one incident, so may be next time things would turn out for the better :)
Maya: I am totally with you on that line. Infact, If I were to name one thing that I hate most, that would be having to wait. The book was a life saver. With out it I wouldn't have been able to do it.
PS: People say to me that the wait could be very sweet depending on who you are waiting for!! Personally I never had that kind of wait until now. So I can not commnet on that....
